Hands up if you’ve inherited a chair from a loved one?

Most of us, at some stage, will inherit a piece of furniture passed down from a grandparent or parent. These pieces are often loaded with emotion; memories of the good times and sorrow at the ending of an era.

Sentimental furniture, especially chairs, are often hardest to deal with. Chairs have soul and character. And changing their appearance, namely reupholstering, often feels like a betrayal.

Is your chair an ugly duckling?

I’m sitting on my balcony in Sydney, overlooking the stunning┬áHarbour Bridge and Opera House. I have my Mac on my lap, and a cup of tea beside me. Life is good. And beautiful.

I firmly believe that life is too short for ugly. Ugly makes you feel bad, ugly is a compromise, ugly is never your first choice and ugly takes up space where beauty should be.
